A committed vegan, Edwin Hammond Meredith loves animals. During his youth, he spent a good amount of time around horses and continues to enjoy caring for these large animals. Beyond that, Edwin Hammond Meredith has an affinity for the mustela family of animals, which includes ferrets.
Ferrets eat between 8 to 10 small meals every day due to their high metabolic rate. This food must be high in protein and fat and low in fiber because ferrets, like cats, are strictly carnivorous. They do not digest carbohydrates very well, so grains must be avoided, nor can they digest much fiber from fruit or vegetables. High amounts of either carbs or fiber increase the risk of disease in ferrets. To ensure ferrets receive the proper nutrients, owners can purchase food pellets from either a local pet store or vet’s office. These pellets should not contain grain or corn and, instead, have a good amount of chicken, lamb, turkey, or other sources of protein. Unfortunately, finding prepackaged ferret food is not always possible. In these situations, owners can instead use kitten food. Although it’s made for cats, kitten food usually has high protein and fat content that makes it suitable for ferrets. However, the ingredient list must be checked to ensure the food is free of grains or other foods with high fiber and carb contents. Furthermore, fatty acid supplements are typically necessary for keeping ferrets healthy. Homemade raw food is also an option for feeding ferrets. Ferrets can eat raw meat from lamb, pigeons, rabbits, game birds, chicken, and turkey. They can also consume some raw animal bones. This provides them with calcium and keeps their teeth clean.

A participant in off-road racing competitions, Edwin Hammond Meredith has served as a professional trophy spec driver in races like the Score International Series in Baja, Mexico. Also an animal lover, Edwin Hammond Meredith enjoys ferrets as pets.
A unique pet, ferrets are small animals that are very social and relatively easy to care for. If you’re looking for a playful pet who needs less attention than a dog, a ferret may be a good choice for you. They like to play with people and other animals, including other ferrets, cats, and dogs. To welcome a ferret into your home, you will need to invest in a good cage to keep it comfortable and some toys to keep it entertained. They also need to visit a vet for routine vaccinations. In exchange for giving them care, ferrets can offer their owners the benefit of a companion and serve as a great stress reliever. They also sleep about 14 to 18 hours each day, including much of the night, so you don’t have to worry about a ferret interrupting your sleep. |
